A native of Nelson County, Kentucky, Jacob Meece is a member of the Rural Physician Leadership Program’s Class of 2020 at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He graduated from Asbury University in 2016 with a B.A. in Biochemistry. Jacob holds a strong interest in rural medicine, and desires to someday help address the shortage of physicians in Kentucky and more remote parts of the country.
“There is an immense unmet healthcare need in Appalachia, and the patients here are amongst the most genuinely kind people you will ever meet,” said Meece. “Having the opportunity to serve and learn from the patients who call this beautiful part of our country home is an absolute honor, and an incredible adventure.”
