Congrats to the Class of 2019

Welcome to the University of Kentucky College Graduation page. We are proud of the achievements of the Class of 2019 and would like to share highlights from the Commencement Ceremony, Senior Awards Night, and Match Day Celebration.

Commencement Ceremony

The UK College of Medicine Class of 2019 Commencement was held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the Concert Hall of the University of Kentucky Singletary Center for the Arts. This year’s ceremony marked the 56th Graduation Processional for the College. Charles "Chipper" Griffith, MD, Vice Dean for Education of the UK College of Medicine delivered the commencement address and helped us celebrate our student’s success.

The graduating class consisted of 133 students who, following the completion of intense studies and clinical rotations, assumed the title of “doctor.” During the National Residency Match Week, the Class of 2019 matched into 24 different specialties. Forty-eight percent of the class will complete residency training in Primary Care as defined by Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics and Family Medicine. Thirty-two percent elected to stay at the UK HealthCare for residency training with another seven percent staying at other Kentucky residency programs.

The Lexington Campus celebration was held in the Woodford Reserve Room at the Kroger Field, while the Morehead Campus celebration was held in the Center of Health, Education, and Research building. The day marked the close of an exciting Match Week for medical students across the nation! We spoke with a few of our students and faculty who shared exactly what the day meant to them.
