Introduction to Global Health

Introduction to Global Health (1st/2nd year elective): This course addresses the global burden of disease in the context of social determinants of health and their effect on health outcomes in vulnerable populations. It also discusses the concept of health and wellness as the result of an integrated approach to safety, security and social justice.

Course Goals:

  • Develop a broad worldview of communities with different lifestyles, health care systems, and geopolitical systems;
  • Develop a personal commitment and action plan to pursue specific interest areas(s) in the global community

This course consists of online modules/quizzes as well as face-to-face seminars with discussion around global health issues. It will offer an opportunity for students to complete at their own pace.
